SUMMARY:Codfish Architecture
DESCRIPTION:Expanding on the exhibition Our Land Is the Sea\, Centro Cultural de Belém/Garagem Sul organises a debate bridging Portugal’s and Norway’s fishing and built environment cultures. Codfish Architecture is funded by EEA Grants Portugal through the Bilateral Relations Fund and will trace research currently in progress at Universidade do Minho’s School of Architecture\, being part of Landscape\, Heritage and Territory Laboratory (Lab2PT)\, and the Oslo School of Architecture and Design. The debate will focus on the thriving ties between marine ecosystems and built environment and will allow us to understand how port cities and territories have changed according to fishing practices\, technological processing procedures\, and the human impact in marine ecosystems. For this exchange programme\, lectures will be hosted in the two countries\, and the outcome will be published in a new edition of Cadernos da Garagem.

SUMMARY:Lisbon Metropolitana Orchestra
DESCRIPTION:The Metropolitana’s New Year’s Concert is always a precious collection of spell-binding jewels. But anyone who has already attended the event knows full well that it is much more than this. The dizzying brilliance of the waltzes summons up ritual purifications that have recovered their meaning in the somersaults of our present time. The animosity of the marches extols conquests and relieves the uneasiness of our current difficulties. The staccato of the polkas drives away ill omens and vulnerabilities\, giving rise to determined and decisive attitudes that can lead to change. \nOne of the undertakings made here is precisely that of celebrating Music\, whose value can be calculated every day in the listening habits of each one of us. \nRui Campos Leitão \n
