SUMMARY:Mário Costa
DESCRIPTION:In just a few years\, Mário Costa\, a Portuguese drummer and percussionist\, has become a tremendous success story in the world of international jazz\, playing alongside such musical legends as Michel Portal\, Wynton Marsalis and Joachim Kühn\, while also belonging to such groups as the revelatory quintet of European jazz led by Emile Parisien\, or the quartet of saxophonist Andy Sheppard. Now\, the drummer is preparing to present his debut album\, Oxy Patina\, for which he has brought together a quite unlikely trio\, being joined by two great names from the European jazz scene: guitarist Marc Ducret and pianist Benoît Delbecq. \nAt this concert\, Costa and Delbecq will be joined by the highly reputed double-bass player Bruno Chevillon.

SUMMARY:Lisbon Metropolitana Orchestra
DESCRIPTION:Allegro molto appassionato (fast and very passionately). This is how this programme begins\, with one of the most famous concertos for violin and orchestra in the whole History of Music\, Mendelssohn’s op. 64. The violinist Ana Pereira is responsible for “setting the tone” of the melody\, which everyone instantly recognises. Immediately afterwards\, we will listen to Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony. For some\, this is a call of destiny\, while for others it is the beginning of a dazzling journey that leads us from movement to movement and ends in a triumphant finale. Completed in 1808\, after four years of maturation\, this composition has become a symbol of musical romanticism\, the ostentation of individual willpower and an untranslatable and pure aesthetic idealisation. – Rui Campos Leitão
