DESCRIPTION:The colours and atmospheres of Italy have always inspired composers. Mendelssohn was enthralled by the country and began to write his fourth symphony\, Italiana\, in response to a commission made by the London Philharmonic Society\, imbued with the landscapes of Florence\, Milan\, Rome and Naples. Nuno Côrte-Real’s piano concertante work Todo o teatro é um muro branco de música directs our attention to the intersectionism of Fernando Pessoa’s poem Oblique Rain\, and guides us in this programme towards a selection of Mozart’s most famous arias\, performed by the most international Portuguese soprano of her generation\, Ana Quintans\, accompanied by the Tuscany Orchestra in its first performance in Portugal. \n
