DESCRIPTION:anesthetize generates an experience that comes close to what we might consider to be a state of anaesthesia or meditation. It has a dense and immersive atmosphere\, perhaps due to the similar appearance of its three performers\, all of whom are dressed in black\, camouflaged in front of an equally black stage set. \nThrough repetitive cycles of movements and gestures\, anesthetize is transformed into an ambiguous and mysterious experience\, not only as an atmosphere\, but also in terms of gender\, in the sense that it is not clear whether the three performers are women or men. One of the aims of the piece was to create an immersive environment that could “hypnotise” the audience\, while they enter into a kind of vortex\, from which\, at a certain point in the performance\, there is a ricochet and they are catapulted to another place/state. \n  \n  \n  \n

DESCRIPTION:Maria Emília was born in São Paulo\, in Brazil. From a very early age\, she began by accompanying her father\, a guitarist who plays in the fado houses of her home town. \nWhen a teenager\, Maria Emília moved to the north of Portugal\, where she continued to sing while attending school. It wasn’t long before she was faced with a choice between making a living from her music or continuing to study. She chose music and has grown in Fado circles into one of the great voices of the new generation. \nAt the CCB\, she will be presenting her first album\, Casa de Fado\, which was distributed all across Europe and has already led to her singing fado on stages worldwide.
