Marina Tabassum. Materials, Movements and Architecture in Bangladesh

Working from Dhaka, architect Marina Tabassum demonstrates the power of gestures and thoughts. With ideas ranging from how to use resources through to community engagement strategies, her work takes advantage of material qualities, explores light as a means to enhance the physical qualities of space, and is capable of performing large transformations by means of small interventions.
The works on display comprise responses to pressing issues such as the living conditions of 1.2 million Rohingya refugees or transformations arising from rising sea levels. This exhibition aims to bring good news from Bangladesh, shedding light on the vibrant intellectual scene nurtured by the rivers flowing into the Bay of Bengal.

ঢাকায় কাজ করে,  স্থপতি মেরিনা তাবাসসুম তার চিন্তা-চেতনার অদম্য শক্তি ও কাজের স্বকীয়তা প্রদর্শন করেছেন। যেকোন নির্মানে প্রয়োজনীয় নানান উপাদানসমূহের ব্যবহার প্রক্রিয়া সম্পর্কে জানা থেকে শুরু করে কমিউনিটির অংশগ্রহণের প্রক্রিয়া পর্যন্ত ধারনা নিয়ে, তিনি তার কাজে  প্রতিটি বিষয়ের গুণাবলীর সদ্ব্যবহার করেন, পাশাপাশি যেকোন স্থাপনার বাহ্যিক গুণাবলী বাড়ানোর মাধ্যম হিসেবে আলোছায়ার খেলাকে ফুটিয়ে তোলেন এবং ছোট কাজের মাধ্যমে বড় পরিবর্তন আনার চেষ্টা করেন।

এই প্রদর্শনীর কাজগুলো, সমুদ্রপৃষ্ঠের উচ্চতা বৃদ্ধির কারনে,  ১.২  মিলিয়ন রোহিঙ্গা শরণার্থীর জীবনযাত্রার পরিস্থিতির পরিবর্তনের প্রতিক্রিয়া নিয়ে গঠিত এবং এর লক্ষ্য বাংলাদেশ থেকে সুসংবাদ বয়ে আনা, বঙ্গোপসাগরে প্রবাহিত নদী দ্বারা পরিচালিত প্রাণবন্ত দৃশ্যের উপর আলোকপাত করা।
