A celebration in the form of an umbrella

With SATIE.150, the pianist Joana Gama celebrates the 150th anniversary of the birth of Erik Satie. In this recital, the work of the French composer is interspersed with that of other composers who shared his taste for making music less formal, even though their results were quite different: John Cage, a great admirer and disseminator of Satie’s music, is joined by names such as Carlos Marecos, Arvo Pärt, John Adams and Alexander Scriabin, this latter composer being a contemporary of Erik Satie, as well as a lover of esotericism. With its première taking place at the Centro Cultural de Belém, the recital SATIE.150 will be performed once a month throughout 2016, at 12 different venues in Portugal.
