A partnership with Amorim Isolamentos
Cities and their spaces change with the rhythm of the seasons. In summer 2018, the square at the heart of the Centro Cultural de Belém became the stage for an ephemeral construction that highlighted this transitory dimension to places and things.
Through an architectural work in cork, with the capacity to stimulate the senses and to redevise the mechanics of a space, it became possible to give form to this transformation of place and to experience the nature of materials, of their structural behaviour and technical potential. Garagem Sul invited Promontório Architects atelier to design a multifaceted construction that combined uses in a unique object whose ephemeral life might perhaps live on in the memory of those who had the pleasure of experiencing it.
This installation will also provide an area for open air screening sessions dedicated to Murray Grigor, a Scottish director who uses architecture as one of the fundamental elements of his work.
Murray Grigor is a scottish director whose cinematographic production has privileged architecture as central role. Between television series, documentaries and promotional films, his works dialogue with larger names in architecture, from Charles Rennie Mackintosh to John Lautner, to Robert Adams and Frank Lloyd Wright. Taking A Square in Summer as scenario, his movies will bring architecture to CCB screens.
