Small Auditorium Plan
Mme. Lemarchand guides her innocent maid, Hilda – a silent, absent, almost nonexistent character – to an escapeless trap. Cilla Back, the stage director, brings a story about social subordination and affection, told with an absurd humour.
Hilda (1999) is the only text written entirely in dialogue and therefore usually performed on stage. Marie NDiaye is the French-Senegalese writer who won the Prix Goncourt in 2009.
