The sonorities of India reach us through the sitar, a string instrument from the north of India where Paulo Sousa specialised and who will perform in this concert together with the tablist Sarang Kamalakar.
Estimated length: 1H30 with intermission
Paulo Sousa was born in Lisbon and has been travelling more and more frequently to India. As a musician, he was always dedicated to string instruments, namely classical and electric guitar. When he discovered the sitar, an original string instrument from Northern India, he started to dedicate himself entirely to this instrument; he was very interested in its culture, being a pupil of the sitar and rudra veena maestro, Pandit Hindraj Divekar.
Last year he was in India studying the sitar and Indian classical music. He obtained a scholarship from the Orient Foundation and lived in Puna, state of Maharastra.
For this concert, he invited the Indian tablist Sarang Kamalakar, disciple of the renowned and acclaimed tablist Anindo Chatterjee.
