Six works with sacred features, in six different languages, from Latin to Russian, based on a selection of three texts from the Old and New Testaments (Genesis, Lamentations and Passion) and on three popular texts from the three composer’s distinct origins. Silêncio brings us a contemporary look on the common book to the three most representative Christian religions: Orthodox, Protestant and Catholic and, simultaneously, the three different composers’ views - Moody, Smith and Madureira - representatives of three aesthetic and cultural experiences. Sete Lágrimas, directed by the tenors Filipe Faria and Sérgio Peixoto, is a musicians’ consortium specialised in early and contemporary music that explores in each programme the thin boundary between classical music and the secular traditions. This concert is preceded by a chat with the composers and the musicians, counting also with the attendance of José Antonio Falcão (Director of the Historical and Artistic Department of the Braga Diocese) and Tolentino Mendonça (Theologian).
[This project endorses the 25th year celebration of the Beja Diocese Department of Historical and Artistic Heritage and it is supported by the Ministry of Culture and the Arts General Direction].
