HOVENAlthough barely known, Novelettes, written in 1838, is one of Schumann’s major pieces for piano solo, not only in dimension (69 score pages) but also in difficulty. Gesänge der Frühe is also a major challenge for any pianist. Schumann wrote it in 1853, after a visit from the young Brahms, whose music marked him profoundly. As a counterpoint, Piotr Anderszewski proposes in this recital to involve Schumann’s music with two English Suites by Johann Sebastian Bach.
