Originating from Indonesia, the gamelan is truly an orchestra, an instrument of collective sharing of experience in multiple fields: body, dance, music and theatre. Many Western musicians and composers have been demonstrating a great interest by this fascinating instrument, by its soundscapes and by its rhythmic possibilities. The concert Exótica (Exotic) reveals some of these works and composers in a game between West's musical culture and the East’s sonority. Elizabeth Davis will be the central character of this concert as a result of previous initiatives by OU.
