The Creation is based on the Book of Genesis, the book of great questions and answers on the origin of mankind. The libretto is the outcome of the translation to the German idiom by the baron Gottfried van Swieten, a melomaniac diplomat who developed his career at the service of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, collaborating also with musicians such as Mozart and Beethoven. As a whole, the work unleashes Haydn’s intense religious devotion and his beaming optimism facing human existence. It is considered his masterpiece by many. It is an oratorio, sacred music written for voices solo, chorus and Orchestra which will be conducted by Maestro Theodor Guschlbauer, holder of a 40-year career and one of the most prominent names regarding the orchestral direction.
