The Köln Concert by Keith Jarrett is one of the best-selling jazz albums of all time, and the most sold solo album in the history of Jazz. Although improvised, this concert was transcribed for stave, which allows us to listen to it once again, in a literal reading performed by Ivo de Geef.
For this concert, Ivo invited four composers and pianists of diverse nationalities and musical influences in order to pay homage to Keith Jarrett, a major reference in the Jazz scene, also committed with other musical styles, such as minimalism, classical music, contemporary music or world music.
The result of this challenge is, apart a piece already composed by Kris Defoort which will be premiered in Portugal, four pieces in absolute premiere written by an Argentinean composer, two English and the Portuguese Sérgio Azevedo, who have been inspired by Jarrett’s music in order to compose their own interpretations and pay tribute to this great American pianist.
