The Tears of Saladin, the second creation by Rui Horta as Season Associated Artist is a play on ethics and compassion in the use of power.
"The Tears of Saladin" is the title of the 10th chapter of The Crusades Through Arabs Eyes by Amin Maalouf, a work that reflects upon the representation of the other, of what is strange and worries us. In fact, the "old" themes addressed in the Lebanese writer’s work are more up-to-date than ever. Today, like one thousand years ago, the same inflexibility still writes the bloodiest chapters in the men’s history, and religion is back to the point of all divisions.
The Tears of Saladin is a large scale piece, conceived to the CCB Main Auditorium with eight dancers and live music.
