Young Artist Youngsters is the name of a project intended to support young artists, wishing to acquire knowledge of their real situation – who they are, what projects and difficulties they have to face - and integrate them in structures in theatres and associations at national level and covering all the territory.
Admission for the 3 performances: 20 €
Tickets for each performance: 10 €
The project started in January 2006 and is the result of the constant concern of the CCB programming which became effective thanks to the positive and enthusiastic reply from countless structures.
The objectives enabled encounters and discussions with more experienced artists (who formed the Critical Observatory); to advance the knowledge of young artists and help in the domain of production and technique which would allow them, later on, to become autonomous; and also to promote encounters between audience communities and young artists, to avoid their great concern of losing greater challenges.
Instead of awarding a final prize, the participants were offered the possibility of a gradual follow-up of their artistic work and production.
Young Artist Youngsters culminates with the presentation in the CCB of three final works: Lá e Cá (There and Here), Hamlet Light and Dos Joelhos para baixo (From Below the Knees).
Besides the presentation of these performances on the 29th, at 17h00, there will be a conversation with the artists, the critical observatory and with all the theatres associated to the project, for a balance of the first experience.
Free admission.
Here is, in anticipation, a short statement from two finalists of the project:
Catarina Vieira and Solange Freitas Lá e Cá (There and Here):
“We see the Program Young Artist Youngsters as a possible support to the creation of a first project. There and Here was created based on the willingness of working together and when we were selected an experimental and research space of the language we wish to develop was created, as well as the material materialization of the project. So, we are pleased with the idea of taking it to different places and different audiences."
Márcia Lança Dos joelhos para baixo (Below the Knees)
"The first point that I wish to stress is the confidence I felt in myself and the play I was creating, by most of the members of the Critical Observatory during the Programme [A]. In spite of the time spent on discussion, after presentation to the Observatory, which was always quite short, I felt that the essential was always said."
