Té Macedo was born in Luanda, starting there his musical studies at the Music Academy. Later he entered the Conservatory of Music in Lisbon where he studied vocals and piano. His curriculum includes performances at the S. Carlos National Opera House and a partnership with the Symphony Orchestra of Cuba where Pablo Milanês, soprano Milagros Cossotto and the great baritone Ulisses Aquino also participated. With a strong classical, opera and ethnic component, Té Macedo merged the symphony orchestra with traditional instruments, beginning a movement to rescue the musical memory of Angola. His beautiful tone and his excellent vocal qualities made him receive letters of praise from Masters and Maestros, among them the great tenor Luciano Pavarotti. The press, in turn, loaned him the epithets of "the lyric voice of Angola" and "Angola in the voice of an Angel."
