“Awakening of cheerful feelings upon arrival in the country” is the expression that can be read in the beginning of the first movement of Beethoven’s Symphony no. 6, a placid and cheerful movement depicting the composer's feelings as he arrives in the country. Besides Beethoven’s Pastoral Symphony, the OSP performs Symphony no. 31 in D Major, known as Hornsignal by Franz Joseph Haydn, and also Alban Berg’s Violin Concert , with Carolin Widmann’s special participation. This work uses the twelve-tone technique, combining atonality with harmonic passages typical from European music.
