The idea of birth is deconstructed by several performances that might be heard through contemporary music – at Christmas, the moment when the annual cycle of seasons dips in the expectation of renewal and new start. This concert features works by the British Jonathan Harvey, the Portuguese composer Carlos Caíres (co-founder of OrchestrUtopica and also the Ricercare choir), and a new work commissioned by OrchestrUtopica to the young Lisbon composer Andreia Pinto-Correia, settled in Boston, where she studies composition with Michael Gandolfi at the New England Conservatory.
