João Aguardela, who teamed up with groups such as Sitiados, Megafone, Linha da Frente and A Naifa, died prematurely at the age of 39, in January 2009. Born among a João Aguardela’s group of friends and admirers, the project Megafone 5 is materialised in three visible sides: the ambitious site who collects all his work; an annual award distinguishing the new traditional Portuguese music (in partnership with the Portuguese Society of Authors); and a great performance at the CCB, with the confirmed attendance of Naifa, Dead Combo, Oquestrada and Gaiteiros de Lisboa.
