With Haydn’s Sonata and Mendelssohn’s Songs without Words and Serious Variations, we are before two ways of facing piano solo music, classical and romantic, this last one in explicit breaking-up with the first, but inevitably influenced by it. In the second part of the concert, we will have the opportunity to listen to one of the nuclear pieces of Mendelssohn’s chamber music production, his first and most famous piano trio.
