In the last A Concert and a Chat, the symphonic and concertante styles are approached, both fundamental for the Classism and for the Romanticism, widely explored by Haydn and Mendelssohn.

The first one composed more than 100 symphonies and ten concerts; the second was author, among other works, of five symphonies, nearly all regularly performed, as well as composer of several concerts. After the outstanding second concert for cello by Haydn, we will listen to the composer’s last symphony and, in the second part, to the extremely famous Violin Concert, Op. 64, by Mendelssohn, one of the most performed works of all the concertante literature for violin.
