This Season’s inaugural concert in Belém Cultural Centre gathers two different worlds: the Finnish music and the North American music.
In the first part you will listen to works by two of today's most interpreted Finnish composers in concert halls all around the world: Sibelius, with a symphonic poem dated from 1899; and Lindberg, with a concert that was released less than a decade ago precisely by Kari Kriikku, the virtuoso Finnish clarinettist presented here as a soloist. After the break, and having crossed the Atlantic Ocean, there’s place to the music of two great North American composers: Scott Joplin, the king of ragtime that also ventured into opera; and Gershwin, with the music that turned famous in the homonymous film by Gene Kelly.
