For the third year in a row and in a joint action of Plano Nacional da Leitura (Ministry of Education, Ministry of Culture and Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs) and Centro Cultural de Belém, the World Poetry Day will be celebrated on the 21st of March. An intensive programming along the day, starting at 11:00 am with the Poetry Book Fair; the indispensable space for the spontaneous Tell Us a Poem; and a set of workshops and activities conceived by Fábrica das Artes for audiences of all ages.
This year, the marathon reading is dedicated to Álvaro de Campos; the poets will have their reading space, as in previous editions. Salette Tavares, artist and writer, has a visual work which is, undoubtedly, one of the most thrilling within the Portuguese experimental poetry scene. We will meet her in her diverse sides: from text to image, from image to sound, from sound to object, from object to space… New proposals such as Cinema and Poetry, Contemporary Urban Poetry and Poetry Scansion invite the audience to participate and to learn the poetry's relationship with the diverse artistic fields. The new challenge is the Poetry Contest intended for schools, whose final selection will take place at the CCB, awarding the best poems. The Conference Centre, the Performing Arts Centre and all intermediate spaces will be wrapped in a party atmosphere, with a lot of poetry for all ages.
