Summer Choral Fest| Festas de Lisboa 2013
The Summer Choral Fest inaugurates the summer of 2013 with the opening concert in the Main Auditorium. Therein marks the debut of the Summer Fest Choir, which will be presented in partnership with the Philharmonic of Beiras, singing Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana under the direction of the conductor Eugene Rogers. The recently created Summer Fest Choir – resident choral group of the festival - is formed up by young singers from around the world in partnership with the World Youth Choir, the University of Michigan and the Lisbon’s Superior School of Music.
On Saturday, June 22, all the choirs participating in the festival - coming from destinations as diverse as Israel, USA, Russia and others - will play in the Belém area (CCB Museum Square, Garden Vieira Portuense and Cloisters of the Monastery of Jerónimos) in concerts with free entrance. On Sunday 23, in the Main Auditorium, it will be held the international competition - also with free entrance to the public. The jury will consist of dedicated choral directors from four different continents and from countries with large choral tradition. On Monday 24, again in the Main Auditorium, there will be the closing concert with the New Israeli Vocal Ensemble and the Summer Fest Choir which will feature a selection of choral music from around the world. The international competition prizes will be handed in this occasion. + info |
