The Living Thing Sextet assembles diverse generations of improvisers, who understand jazz as a living thing.
Inspired in Joe Henderson and Woody Shaw, two jazz legends, the Living Thing understands composition as a starting and arrival point for the “solos’ vibration”, wishing that they become “contrasting”, but also matching “in a blend of multiple colours and textures”.
The coordinates of this ensemble are described by its musicians as the “fast chaining of melodic lines of the wind section”, “piano translucent textures” and “collective powerful groove”, with the purpose to reproduce the “improbable dialogue between strange birds” and to go “from order to chaos”, or vice versa.
