Mulgrew Miller is nowadays one of the most recorded pianists in the jazz scene (second only to Kenny Barron) with over 400 recording sessions to his credit. Known for his impeccable choice of musicans, this american pianist has always surrounded himself by the best musicians. He has played with Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers, Tony Williams Quintet, the Duke Ellington Orchestra, Joe Lovano, Ron Carter Trio... among many other great jazz names.

For the first time in CCB, Mulgrew Miller presents his sextet - Wingspan. Wingspan, which Miller has directed off and on for nearly 20 years, currently features Steve Nelson (vibraphone), Duane Eubanks (trumpet), Steve Wilson (alto saxophone/in this venue replaced by Antonio Hart), Ivan Taylor (bass) and Rodney Green (drums).
The ensemble got together again in 2006, when Miller commemorated his new tenure as the Director of Jazz Studies at the William Paterson University with a tribute to James Williams, its former director.
Wingspan is also the title of an original Miller composition, a tribute to Charlie Parker. The group's repertoire includes some of Miller's own compositions, as well as standard tunes from the American songbook.
Mulgrew Miller & Wingspan was also invited by CCB to lead the first edition of the Lisbon Jazz Summer School.
