This trio of variable configuration, featuring Carlos Barretto or Carlos Bica in the double bass and Markku Ounaskari or José Salgueiro in the drums, has as goals “to awake sensations in the audience” and to introduce “human themes” to those who listen to them.
Pursuing a guitar language inspired in musicians such as Wes Montgomery, Jim Hall, John Abercrombie and Pat Metheny, the vocabularies comprised in Miguel Martins’ music are diverse, including free jazz, rock and world music, according to its rule of running away from exclusive musical clans. Miguel Martins calls this idiomatic melting pot “kaleidoscopic tools of intervenient expression”, those needed to understand the “life experience portraits” and the “fictitious characterisations of personages and places” which he aims to construct, always with the compositions helping the collective improvisation.
