If it’s true that music does not need to be explained, it is also true that the fruition of a musical work can be very enriched if one has the privilege to attend a concert sitting next to an expert.

The placing of a work in its age, the composer's lifetime when it was composed, a true story or a story created around it, the person to whom it was dedicated, a call for attention to a detail in a instrument or a detail on the work’s architecture are some of the sides that might sublimate deeply our listening.

FANTASTIC GAMES
A chat with Manuela Paraíso

Carrying on the initiative begun in March 2009, a Concert and a Chat return to the CCB with a cycle that includes piano solo works, chamber music, piano and vocal songs, and virtuoso concerts from the Romanticism.

The journalist Manuela Paraíso follows closely these Fantastic Games and guides us through different types of musical fruition, in a parade of sounds, rhythms, and musical colours, along with the musical humour of the carnival masks, Ramos Rosa and Pinho Vargas’s poetry and music, some evocations Chopin and Schumann, and also the heroes of the romantic concerts.

Such as in the former edition, this cycle A Chat and a Concert is enriched with the opportunity young performers will have - chosen by Miguel Henriques - by sharing the stage with renowned professional musicians.

Still in this season, during May and June, we will attend another A Chat and a Concert cycle, this time devoted to fado, directed by Helder Moutinho.
