Which is the first thing that comes to your mind when it comes to play violin? Scratched sounds, many hours of study, an extremely difficult task reserved for persons with unusual talent. The desire of de-dramatise this myth, providing a direct contact with the instrument, is the starting point of the project Violinos em Festa (Violins in Party). It consists on a workshop oriented by a violinist, where the participants – with the help of games and activities – might get a little more knowledge about the violin and, all together, play in a small improvised orchestra.
2. GAMBOZINOS CAÇARAM BACH (GAMBOZINOS CHASED BACH)

The Gambozinos plunged into the music of Bach. They picked up different melodies by Bach, and in another leap they brought them to the Music Days. We will be able to play and sing these melodies, following the Gambozinos in this journey of rhythm and harmony, crossing Bach’s age with the present time.

In this workshop we will find three scientists-musicians investigating the sound spreading... Did you know that sounds fly? Where tones go after we listen to them? We are going to feel the vibrations, the magic enclosed by sound, how it goes through our bones, our body ... We’re going to become invisible through experiences with water or graphic sounds we recorded in our mini-studio.

This workshop-concert aims to join parents and children in the musical universe with roots in oral tradition, from the creation of sound landscapes which easily carry us to a magic world, creative and surprising where words, sounds and gestures interact. We seek to encourage the creative potential that exists inside each one of us – children and adults – providing experiences of entertaining communication. This workshop-concert is inspired on the book&CD, Cantar Juntos 1 (Singing Together 1), promoted by the Associação Aprender em Parceria in the context of the A PAR project.

"How can a musician assign to each piece he performs his own feeling […] if he does not know how to determine the time and the nature of each time measure […] contained in the piece? To get these features essential to a good performance, the musician must study diligently all kinds of dances." (J. Ph. Kirnberger (1721-1783), pupil of J. S. Bach) We will step in an 18th century ballroom and dance at the sound of live music performed by musicians. By learning some of the dances in the age of Bach, we will understand better and admire even more his music.
6. HISTÓRIAS COM BACH (STORIES WITH BACH)

An historian comes to the Fábrica das Artes to tell stories about Bach. From the stories he keeps up his sleeve, playing cards and maps will come out, revealing the day-by-day of a musician in the baroque period.

Let's find out how the Art of the Fugue is a sculpture in motion, a free and accurate flight , a great adventure. Let's play, sing, perform, dance, listen, see... magic words that are music ... forwards, backwards, upside down ... Let's turn gestures into sounds, sounds into gestures ... Let's make music in Bach's way.

In this room you will meet musicians, listen and see them playing next to you and, finally, to pop all the questions about Bach's music.
REGISTRATIONS Workshops are open Saturday and Sunday from 10:00am. Booking shall be done until April 24 at the CCB Box Office through the “Dias da Música” line – 212 612 555 – or at the CCB/Fábrica das Artes during the days of the event.
Children under 7 years must be accompanied by an adult if they wish to attend the workshops.
The admittance is limited to the rooms’ capacity, to those who hold a ticket for the Music Days' concerts, or an admission ticket.
Children under 4 years old do not need to purchase a ticket.

The University of Lisbon's culture side has been acquiring impact and relevance within the community, and the University choirs has been playing a major role in our country's musical development. The existence of a children chorus connected to the University (CIUL) is an unseen event in our country. The chorus is composed by children between 6 and 12 years old, its work being ruled by a high level of artistic demand, integrating voice, body expression and dramatics.

A percussion ensemble consisting of five youngsters whose average age is 14 years old. This group has led to another, composed by eight elements whose average age is 10 years old. The idea that music has a very strong entertaining component which can be explored has been in the origin of this project.

SHINICHI SUZUKI
Oriented by this principle and by the conviction that all children have the potential to learn an instrument, the Suzuki Cello Class was created in September 2007, at the CML . With only 18 months of existence, this class, coordinated by the cellist Catarina Anacleto, is already a group of 30 students aged between 3 and 16 and with a considerable repertoire.
