After receiving the TURISMO DE PORTUGAL Special Award in 2008, the CCB Inside Out 2009 edition presents a programming oriented towards the diversity of artistic creation in its multiple expressions, a trend currently known as transculturality.
The huge mobility between continents, the migratory movements and the development of the communication channels are some of the facts that might contribute to the cultural contamination.
The economically emerging countries located in Asia, Africa, Australia or South America, and especially the cultural production coming from big cities such as Mumbai, Tokyo and Niger, play a key role in the creation of new networks regarding the dissemination of culture.
This reality spans on a global level and has been ruling the international artistic scene with a strong audience’s participation, a phenomenon clearly evident in world music, dance/ performance, cinema and visual arts. The festival will take place from mid-July to end of August. We elected two continents: Asia with productions coming from several countries: India, Tibet and Japa; and Africa represented by Nigeria, Mali, Ethiopia, Senegal and Niger.
Portugal is also present in this festival. The CCB launched the challenge Belém Urbana to the creators living in the country. After a surprising participation, the best projects have been selected to join this edition. Just like last year, the Museum Square will be the core of the main events, but we did not forget the gardens, the pedestrian way, the main entrance and all the other venue spaces. On the July weekends, associated to the Lisbon Jazz Summer School, the activities will have a strong connection with jazz, either through several concerts or workshops organized by the Fábrica das Artes for children and families. August offers great open air concerts, dance performances, films, visual and street art in several spaces.
