The identity of the movement-image is here translated and recreated in a choreographic composition. With music by João Branco Kyron "O Maquinista", Inês Jacques stages a performance where movement is materialised in handling and editing imported from the Cinema.
Following Renée Adorée, who brought early moving images from the cinema into the body, this play deepens this approach exhibiting the movement-image as a metalanguage reflecting its own mechanisms. The goal is still the same: to make "live cinema", using only movement and a direct relation, which demands a state of dynamic attention from the audience, through the questioning of the narrative’s fiction, linearity, true and fake raccords; at bottom, the point of view of the editing table. Cinema reveals itself through the use of its characteristics: shots, editing, time and space, among others… These features are closely related to the choreographic composition, if one considers that movement is a work-in-progress image, constructed and destructed by itself.
On October 31, the performance will be followed by a chat with the artists, oriented by Mónica Guerreiro.
