In Double, mala voadora tries to build a character, using the theatre’s techniques.
SMALL AUDITORIUM - EDUARDO PRADO COELHO ROOM
The Double, a Dostoievski Fyodor’s novel depicts a man whose life is on the verge of destruction due to the sudden appearance of a literal facsimile of his self. The Mala Voadora recreated this absurd tale aiming to question the absolute value of individuality and, thus, also the value of the fiercely autobiographical works. The story will be recreated in a film. The film projection will be accompanied by interventions of the actor who plays the protagonist’s role. The Double is the third performance of a cycle that Mala Voadora has been developing on the prerogatives and social and artistic limitations of identity.
On November 6, the performance will be followed by a chat with the artists, oriented by Mónica Guerreiro.
Mala Voadora
Mala Voadora was founded by Jorge Andrade and José Capela, entrusted with the company artistic direction. Its first performance premiered in 2003. We do not have a methodological model, we do not seek to set a language, we do not insist on a particular "universe". We have been working from themes or data that, in all its diversity, are related with the everyday life, among its most affective and political dimensions – things that we read in the newspapers or in other media, in our day by day, in some reflection on what art.
